planning a 65th birthday party
Since I have only ever hosted children’s parties - when my sisters and I decided to plan a party for my parents’ 65 birthdays, I’ll admit I was a little lost when it came to decor and styling! I didn’t want it to feel cheesy or childish, but I also didn’t want to under-do it, as we were inviting a lot of people and we really wanted it to feel special! So if you find yourself in a similar spot, I hope this post is helpful!
Dance&Shine - Lauren is turning 9!
Lauren’s “Dance&Shine” 9th birthday brought fun 90’s hip hop vibes to life! Hosted at Artist Avenue (a local dance studio) the party featured a dance lesson and fun games — plus sparkly decor and colorful themed snacks that kept the celebration energetic and nostalgic. Lauren and I love coming up with little catch-phrases for her parties (and we love when they rhyme!) so DANCE&SHINE was such a fun way to celebrate her 9th birthday! And what better way to combine a dance party with turning 9…adding in a little 90’s hip hop vibes!
Ethan's LEGO Party
For Ethan’s 6th birthday party, we finally settled on a LEGO theme - and it was the perfect way to celebrate our little LEGO-loving guy! We hosted the party at the park beside our house - it has a fun new play structure and lots of green space and trees (and not to mention easy to set up at since we don't have to haul things very far!)
one silly goose
Drew is ONE! I can’t believe it — what a year! I love first birthday parties and this “one silly goose” theme was the perfect way to celebrate his first year with family and friends. From handmade cottage‑y fabric decorations to cute plush geese and fun party favours, every detail brought this whimsical first birthday to life.

I love making things for my kid’s birthday parties and little festive celebrations. One of my favourite ways to create decor and add cute details to the party is with my Cricut machine! I have the Cricut Maker 3 - and it can do it all - it has totally opened up my imagination for things I can make! So without further adieu, here is a roundup of things I have made for parties with my trusty Cricut!

sunkissed+seven - a 70's beach party!
For Lauren’s 7th birthday, we threw a Sun‑Kissed beach party inspired by vintage 1970s summer vibes. Golden sunlight tones, crocheted party favors, retro-inspired décor, sand castle building and fun swim floaties kept the celebration bright and cheerful. Every detail, from the boho accents to the setup right on the beach, made the day feel nostalgic, fun, and unforgettable.
it's a Mario Party!
Here we go! Ethan has powered up to Level 4! We threw an epic Super Mario birthday party, complete with themed decorations with a fun outdoor set up. The kids raced each other in a Mario Kart-inspired track, played game-themed activities, and enjoyed snacks and treats inspired by the classic characters — making the celebration colorful, playful, and full of energy.
