all of my favourite springtime things

baskets, brunch +bunnies!

easter favs + ideas

I was looking at previous years’ easter baskets for ideas when I decided to put them all in one post - along with all of my Easter favourites! I love picking a new basket for my kiddos every year, and choosing one that’s practical so that they can use it afterward for something else!

I typically try to do a candy-free basket (ok maybe a few mini eggs or fruit snacks!) but I mostly like finding outdoor springtime things that the kids need anyway (like jackets, rain boots, hats, sandals, dresses, sunglasses, etc), something to play with (like a new Cuddle+Kind doll, sidewalk chalk, bubbles), bathtime goodies (like bubble-bath, lotion, bathbombs, small bath toys), and a spring-themed book to read!

Would it even be a holiday without matching jammies? I always gift my kids new pyjamas a week or so before each holiday to get them excited and wear them early! Lastly, I also love to do a ‘bunny brunch’ each year - either just a simple breakfast with bunny ears or a fun themed brunch party! Keep scrolling below to see more of my favourite easter things - from brunches, bunnies and of course BASKETS!

This Peter Rabbit themed brunch was one of my all time favourites! Garden florals, blue gingham and of course these adorable Peter Rabbit plates and napkins set the table perfectly!

These adorable yellow bunny pajamas are from Coco Village and they are so soft!

I loved layering these floral daisy plates with the larger pastel gingham plates for our bunny brunch - oh and of course some pretty bunny ears to add a little fun!

spring + easter outfits

These baskets are from a while ago now, but something I love about them is that I made the ribbons tied around the front! I had an old cotton bed sheet that I didn’t need anymore, so I tore it into strips, and died them using different things (I used avocado for the blush pink one, and turmeric for the yellow one!) Adding big ribbons made these baskets look a little more exciting, as I was reusing them for probably the 3rd time - and it didn’t cost anything!

cute baskets for easter

I’m also so in love with these daisy plates and napkins, flower sunglasses, and wooden cutlery. Adding a cotton/linen napkin to the table always adds a nice texture too!

Making play dough is one way of limiting spending if you aren’t wanting to purchase a lot of new things for your easter baskets, or are just looking for a fun activity to do at home with your kids. I always use my favourite recipe - and finding a cute jar (like these flower-shaped ones above!) can make it feel really special! You can even download my “daisy dough” labels here, to add a little something to your handmade gift!

While I’m on the subject of not buying more things you don’t need - here is an easy DIY to make your own felt baskets! You could make these out almost anything - maybe you have leftover fabric from a project, or even recycle something you no longer want (old curtains? a cushion cover? a quilt? pair of jeans?) and turn it into a basket!

Another fun activity/DIY to do, or to make as basket stuffer are these little flower seed pops! They were really fun to make, and you can do any shape/colour/seed combo that you’d like! I did daisies/wildflowers, but vegetable garden or herb ones would be really cute for spring too!

Oh - I can’t forget about these DIY bunny ear napkin rings! Another easy thing to make to add a little cuteness to your Easter table! These don’t require any sewing, and you can use any fabric you have on hand!

These baskets were so fun to put together! I LOVE these sunjellies bags - they are so versatile and can hold a lot of goodies! Aside from being an excellent Egg Hunt basket - we have used ours to gather bath toys (hang the handle from the tap!), pretend play shopping bags, hair accessories basket, as well as decorative display basket on the kid’s bedroom shelves. The hooded bunny towels are also a cute addition, and something we can continue to use year-round as well!

So many fun things here - my absolute FAVOURITE way to decorate easter eggs are with these egg decorating tatoos! The kids loved putting them on, and I loved that it was entirely mess-free! I used these pretty floral bunny napkins and pink plates, along with floral paper crowns and party crackers for a fun surprise! We also love decorating sugar cookies at easter, and I love adding new cookies cutters to our collection each year!

These baskets will be hard to beat this year! I originally found these sweet felt bunny baskets, but they were a bit too small to fit all of the things I had found (oops…!) So I stuck them inside this slightly bigger wire basket, and I ended up loving the layered look, and it also helped “hold” things in place too! My favourite things in these baskets were the adorable Cuddle+Kind bunnies: Henry and Hannah, the spring play dough from Little Larch, and matching gingham swimsuits!
