back to school breakfast

Ah back to school time! Always a little bitter sweet - this year comes with extra anticipation with Lauren starting GRADE ONE! Full-time school will definitely be an adjustment (for the whole family!) but we are excited for her to grow and learn lots this year!

I decided to make our “first day of school” breakfast an annual tradition (you can find our celebration from last year here!) - I find having a fun breakfast together eases the nerves a little, and starts the day off with something special to mark the beginning of a new school year! I made a little “grade one” garland for over the table, apple crumble muffins, and set up the table with a little help from A Little Confetti! I loved these fun colourful striped plates, and matching napkins - they happened to match the little pink + mint organizers and mini composition notebooks that I found at the dollar store perfectly!

To add a little “classroom flare” to the table - I found this removable chalkboard sticker that I used for a table runner - it was fun to colour on during breakfast, and I used little dry-erase boards for placemats!

For a quick and easy breakfast (school mornings are always a bit rushed!), I made these yummy apple crumble muffins the night before, and prepped a plate of fresh fruit. We also had bowls of apple cinnamon cheerios + pre-made smoothies!
