our summer lemonade stand!

Lauren was SO excited about doing a lemonade stand this summer! She drew up the design for the stand, and instructed her dad on how to build it (she made sure we knew it had to have wheels, a canopy for shade, and a shelf to also sell treats!) So while dad got to work on that part, I headed over to A Little Confetti to look for fun cups - but I just couldn’t resist mixed stripe collection - the set of cups, colourful stripe plates, matching napkins too! I also loved the happy yellow and ballet pink paper cups,

A major feature in Lauren’s design was a banner across the front of the stand. I figured I could make one pretty easily, so I took the colourful plates to the fabric store and tried to find fabric that matched each colour (FYI I omitted the red from the pack!). I cut out triangle banner shapes out of the fabric and pink felt (for a backer), and just sewed them together around the edges. Then I folded a longer piece of white cotton and sewed it along the top edge of each triangle to connect/string them together! Then I cut out letters on my Cricut with yellow, white, and pink iron-on vinyl to spell out ‘lemonade’ !

Lauren also wanted to sell cookies, so we baked some chocolate chip cookies and packaged them in little clear bags with fun summer stickers to close them. For a menu sign, I put yellow card stock in a photo frame, and Lauren used dry-erase markers to write her items and prices!

To finish off the stand, of course we needed to paint it! I mixed up little bowls of acrylic paint (to coordinate with the fun colours from the plates), and let the kids have fun painting the boards across the front different colours. They took so much pride in creating their little stand, and couldn’t wait to open up shop the next day! This was such a fun project to do together, and I’m glad that we can use the stand year after year as well - maybe we’ll change up the colours and banner next time, or keep adding new features to it!
