a vintage-inspired halloween party

Over the past 5 years I have loved setting up a little Halloween party at home for my kids (sometimes we invite friends, sometimes it’s just us!) I always try to lean into ‘cute’ halloween - happy ghosts, cheery pumpkins, silly skeletons, or adding a pink, peach and purple to the traditional colour scheme. But this year I decided to stay true to the ‘black, white and orange' halloween decor, and go with a more vintage-inspired look that I think turned out so cute! What’s even better - was that I was able to reuse table linens I already had, and pulled together some decor I normally display around the house.

For the decor, I was inspired by these Meri Meri plates - especially the cute orange and black bow garland at the top, so I tried to recreate it for our backdrop using some black halloween fabric and orange streamers! Then I hung these adorable skeletons (the puppy!), and used glue dots to hang some balloons with black yarn tied to them (for a helium look!)

For the treats, I made sugar cookies with fondant icing (so fail-safe and yummy!), bowls of chips and popcorn, mini carrot muffins, and and apple-caramel loaf. I also poured chocolate milk in coupe glasses for a special drink!

For the table, I added these character plates that coordinated with the larger round plates (I stuck some to the walls too!), and tucked in these cute little fringe napkins underneath. for a little centrepiece, I found the perfect not-orange pumpkin and cut some branches from our tree to put in little bud vases. I loved adding taper candles and tea lights to add a little drama to the table (how cute are those ghost candle holders?), as well as the little haunted houses. This little party set up was truly so simple - you could truly pull together any of your halloween decor you already have!
