phoenix with kids

Since my parents winter at their home in Arizona, I decided to pack up the kids and find join them for 9 days this February! We did our best to get out and explore most days without compromising naps too much - Lauren is 3.5 but still naps every afternoon, and Ethan is 9months, and napping morning/afternoon so this was quite the task! We decided on a few activities, and planned our days as best we could. Some days were a complete fail - naps were missed, baby got hungry mid-drive home… but for the most part I thought we were able to do a lot of fun things and keep the kids happy too! The weather was actually really appropriate for little kids to be outside too so that made it even more enjoyable not having to worry if they were getting too hot.

Here’s what we got up to:

Old Town Scottsdale

While exploring Old Town Scottsdale, we obviously had to make a quick macaron stop (that’s a thing, right?) at Růže Cake House. You guys, this bakery is THE CUTEST - we had a little treat and enjoyed the pretty atmosphere, including the super cool “stop & taste the roses” neon sign.

SCHNEPF FARMS

Schnepf Farms looked really amazing from it’s website, but it happened to be a little “off-season” when we visited, so we weren’t able to truly take in everything it had to offer! What we did get to do was go on a tractor hay ride around the farm, feed a herd of deer, play on the playground, walk around the grounds and enjoy a HUGE cinnamon bun in their cafe. I’d love to visit again when it’s in full-swing! I would still highly recommend visiting, but just not in February.

Queen Creek Olive Mill

We visited Queen Creek Olive Mill for a delicious lunch outside under the olive trees. The setting is beautiful and calming, with lots of picnic tables and places to sit (they even have high chairs available for littles!). The menu is wonderful, and I definitely ate my share of their incredible olives. The store is also amazing, I could have browsed for a lot longer than it took to get our food! We didn’t go on a tour, but I think it would be really interesting to do next time!

Phoenix Zoo

The Phoenix Zoo was a great way to spend the afternoon. I love that they have a children’s trail and Harmony Farm which is geared more towards kids. We were able to cover pretty much the whole zoo in a few hours, and even stopped to have a snack that we brought with us.
